Lunch & Learn: Evidence-based Practice and Autism (FREE)

Hosted by EFMP and FAP, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst and the National Autism Center

Please join us for this FREE presentation!

The National Autism Center (NAC) launched the National Standards Project in 2005 with the support and guidance of an expert panel composed of nationally recognized scholars, researchers, and other leaders representing diverse fields of study. The primary goal of the National Standards Project is to provide critical information about which treatments have been shown to be effective for individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD).

The project examined and quantified the level of research supporting interventions that target the core characteristics of ASD in children, adolescents and young adults (below 22 years of age) on the autism spectrum.

This free presentation, designed for medical professionals, child care staff, educators, early intervention providers and more, will focus on how the NAC evaluated the quality of science for each of the 775 treatment articles that were reviewed. We will discuss the treatments identified as established, emerging, and unestablished. Finally, we will review how practitioners can use these treatments as part of the evidence-based practice for the treatment of autism.
