Pairing and Autism: Building a Strong Foundation for Learning

Please join John Tolson, M.Ed., BCBA, LBA, in this virtual training to discuss the benefits of pairing to make learning more enjoyable for young children with autism and developmental disabilities. 


Description: For many children with autism, interacting with adults can be difficult. Pairing is an initial important step for building learning opportunities through building rapport. By building this rapport, we are strengthening relationships when working with children. This positive relationship is essential for building the groundwork for a positive learning environment. This training will discuss what pairing is, why we do it, as well as how we do it to build prerequisites to early communication with younger children with developmental disabilities. 
 
Presenter: John Tolson is the Program Director of the May Center for ABA Services in Virginia (Greater Richmond and Peninsula). He is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and a Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA) in Virginia. He has worked with children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities for more than 10 years, and currently also serves as the Clinical Supervisor for the Virginia center.
