Falmouth Road Race

May Institute is proud to be a benefiting charity of the 2013 New Balance Falmouth Road Race’s Numbers for Non-Profits program!

Support our runners!

We are so very grateful to have so many runners this year. Each runner has pledged to raise $1,000 so they can help children and adults with autism, brain injury, and other special needs receive effective treatment so they may lead better lives.

By supporting one of our runners, you will help put books in the hands of young students learning to read, help children speak their first words through assistive communication, and give adults vocational training and the opportunity to participate in recreational activity.

Click on the name of the runner you would like to support. Your gift will make a difference!

Keith Baker — Raised to date: $480!
Employee at our May Center for Adult Services in Mashpee, Mass.

Why I run: I would like to help increase funding and awareness for both adults and children with autism.

John DeAndrade— Raised to date: $1,325!
Friend of May Institute Staff Member
Why I run: I would be honored to run for the May Institute for several reasons. Most importantly, I believe in their philosophy and their drive for seeing their students succeed. My wife works with children on the autism spectrum, and I see the joy she gets when a child is successful. We believe that the May Institute provides qualified staff who want only the best for their students and their families.

Katelyn Deetz — Raised to date: $1,138!
Employee at the May Center for Education and Neurorehabilitation school

Why I run: I am running for the May Institute to support my amazing students, their supportive families, and the hardworking May staff. I'm looking forward to representing the May in the Falmouth Road Race and supporting a very special cause!

Josiah Hazard — Raised to date: $570!
Employee at a May Institute Group Home in Revere, Mass.
Why I run: I would like to run the Falmouth Road Race because I believe strongly in the mission statement of the May Institute and the work we do for individuals with autism and other special needs. I have worked for the May for over five years and have come to know numerous individuals whose lives I have seen improve based on the work and dedication of the May Institute and their employees. Every day I witness the challenges the individuals I serve face and with their hard work often overcome. I would like to take this challenge to personally push myself and test myself as they do every day. Thank you all for your support.

Nicole Lewis— Raised to date: $595!
Employee at our May Center for Child Development school in Randolph, Mass.
Why I run: I'm running for the May Institute because I want to raise awareness and money for my students to provide them with the best education possible.

Emily Ross — Raised to date: $1,170!
Employee at our May Center for Child Development in Randolph, Mass.
Why I run: The students that I work with at the May Institute amaze me everyday as they learn and grow. I want to run for May Institute with my fellow teachers to help raise awareness for autism and to raise funds to benefit the students. My seven students face obstacles every time they go out into the world and this is an opportunity for me to do something just for them.

Melissa Winters — Raised to date: $1,140!
Employee at our May Center for Child Development school in Randolph, Mass.

Why I run: I want to run for the May Institute in honor of all of the students and families I have been lucky enough to work with in the past and present. All of my students have been a wonderful and inspirational part of my life and have influenced who I am today. I admire all of their personalities, perspectives on life and their humor. I believe running this race is a way to show how much I appreciate all of my students and their families and my co-workers (past and present) for all of their hard work and dedication.
