Parent Training: How to Get Your Child to Listen the First Time

Part of a special speaker series sponsored by May Institute, in partnership with the Hockomock Area YMCA

This FREE event is part of a speaker series open to any families interested in attending. It is designed based on feedback from Hockomock Area parents about what topics would be most useful. It will take place at the Hockomock Area YMCA in Franklin, Mass. Special thanks to the YMCA for partnering with us on these events.

Presenter: Janine Kesterson, M.S., May Institute

Description: Do you often find yourself yelling at your child to do something, but end up having to do it yourself? Are you exhausted from the constant power struggles with your child? Join us for this workshop where you will learn specific strategies to help motivate your child. The presenter, Janine Kesterson, is a specialist with experience helping children with special needs. You will learn how to pick your battles, how to give effective commands, when praise is not enough, and how to use reinforcers.

Time: Presentations will begin at 6:30 p.m. A typical evening will include a one-hour presentation, 30 minutes for questions and answers with the speaker, and 30 minutes for networking opportunities.
