Proceeds to Benefit Individuals with Autism and Special Needs
Randolph, Mass. — May Institute will host An Evening of Hope and Possibility on April 5th to raise funds for technology and program advances to enrich the quality of life for the thousands of people served each year. The award-winning nonprofit provides evidence-based treatment to individuals across the lifespan with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities, brain injury and neurological disorders, and other special needs.
The sold-out event will take place Thursday evening at the State Room in Boston. David Wade, Co-anchor WBZ-TV/CBS Boston, will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
“The funds raised will allow us to increase and enhance technology for our students, adolescents, adults, and staff,” said President and CEO Lauren C. Solotar, Ph.D., ABPP. “Whether it be to purchase classroom SMART Boards and iPads, develop database tools and software to track progress, or improve skills through assistive communication devices, the financial support we receive will directly impact the lives of the people we serve.”
The program will include the presentation of May Institute’s first President’s Award to Sesame Workshop for their important work in autism awareness. Sesame Workshop created Sesame Street and Autism: See Amazing in All Children, a global initiative fostering understanding about autism. The smiling face at the center of the initiative belongs to Julia – a sweet and curious four-year-old girl Muppet with autism. Dr. Jeannette Betancourt, Senior Vice President for U.S. Social Impact, will accept the award on behalf of Sesame Workshop.
John Terrio of Auction Knights will serve as Auctioneer during the live auction that will offer attendees opportunities to bid on high-end vacations, coveted sports tickets, and a sold-out Taylor Swift concert, among other exciting offerings.
The featured speaker will be Sabrina Manno, the parent of a student who attends the May Center School for Autism and Developmental Disabilities in Randolph, Mass. May Institute will also launch its “Lifetime of Firsts” initiative, featuring stories of celebration at May Institute.
