The Bay School Celebrates May Institute’s 60th Birthday

05/19/15

They might be all the way across the country from our Randolph campus in Massachusetts, but we on the east coast were with them in spirit as they joined in marking May Institute's 60th anniversary year!

Staff members at The Bay School, a May Center School for Autism and Developmental Disabilities in Santa Cruz, Calif. recently celebrated May Institute’s 60th birthday in style. On a gorgeous, sunny day, they held an outdoor party in the school lot that included a terrific catered lunch, good music, and great company.

A special “60” sign greeted staff; the “6” was decorated by students and staff with their own thumbprints; the “0” was decorated with brighly colored tissue paper by students. Everyone got involved! A second piece of art featured 60 monarch butterflies in flight, all painted and glued by Bay School students onto a beautiful blue canvas. (Check out the beautiful artwork on the Flickr album.)

“Everyone had a wonderful time," said Executive Director Andrea Gold, Ph.D., BCBA-D. “There were lots of smiles and lots of laughter.”
