Singapore's Saint Andrew's Autism Centre Visits May Institute

05/23/16

We recently had the pleasure to host a group from St. Andrew's Autism Centre (SAAC) in Singapore. SAAC is a nonprofit, integrated centre for the education, training, and care of persons with autism and their families. Our visitors included Dennis Ang, CEO; Marcel Semaun, Head of Adult Autism Services; and Kelvin Ong, Project Manager.

SAAC connected with May Institute through the Commission of the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). SAAC was interested in a CARF-accredited organization that has been implementing adult residential services to gain more knowledge on the operations and structure for these services. Mr. Ang, Mr. Semaun, and Mr. Ong were able to spend the day with us on ouir campus in Randolph, Mass. They took a tour of the May Center School for Autism and Developmental Disabilities, one of our Adult Day Habilitation Programs, and associated adult residential settings.

A significant amount of time was spent on the operations of Adult Services and employee training.  Special thanks go out to the May Center for Adult Services in Eastern Massachusetts, the Quality Improvement Department, and Dr.Deidre Donaldson for imparting best practices and assistance to our new colleagues in Singapore.
