"I Ride for Bryanna."

09/26/12

This year, May Institute participates in its fifth Rodman Ride for Kids, a fundraising effort that benefits our children’s programs across Massachusetts. Thanks to the support and enthusiasm of a dedicated and growing team of bike riders and their thousands of supporters, we have raised more than half a million dollars to directly support our children’s services.

Bob O'Connor, whose daughter Bryanna (pictured at right) attends one of our special education schools, shares his perspective about why he is riding with us for the third year in a row (including a 100-mile ride in 85 degree heat!):

"I could never put into words the real appreciation that my family has for the amount of help my daughter, Bryanna, has received over the years, including the quality care she has been given over the last few years with May Institute, both in her residence and in her day program; the way she can have a good quality of life despite her special needs, and be treated with respect and dignity.

"In 2010 I became aware of the Rodman Ride for Kids, and I realized that I could do a small part in giving something back for all that help. Because I very much enjoy the recreation and fitness that biking has to offer, it seemed to me that the Rodman Ride was a perfect fit!! I really look forward to joining the other riders for a great cause."

From all of us, Bob, thanks so much for your support and involvement.
