The May Center for ABA Services in West Springfield, Mass., provides best practice intensive behavioral intervention in a
center-based program to young children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other special needs.
Our center-based services provide early childhood therapy services based on the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA) through interventions that focus on communication, social, play, and daily living skills, with the goal of helping children build critical skills and reduce challenging behaviors. We tailor instruction to be developmentally appropriate for learners and use materials, toys, and activities that are preferred by the child and family.
Our Early Learners' center-based program is designed for toddlers and young children. The program operates Monday through Friday, 8am – 5pm. Children attending the center-based program are on-site for sessions that vary in length (e.g., 3-6 hour sessions) and are generally staffed one-to-one with a highly trainined Registered Behavior Technician (or equivalent) providing direct therapy under the supervision of a licensed psychologist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
As we expand to offer center-based services, we also continue to provide
home-based services to many families.
Direct therapy services are structured to address challenges with communication, social interaction, and functional independent living skills (e.g., toilet training). Behavior support plans are individualized for children with maladaptive behavior to identify and teach functional replacement skills. Additionally, parent consultation services are provided to all of the families attending our center- and home-based programs.
