The Employee Recognition & Appreciation committee congratulates Derrik Mwakurigha for being selected for an Employee Spotlight Award in the Autumn of 2023! The award recognizes the exceptional contributions of May employees. Winners are nominated by their colleagues, managers, and supervisors from across the organization. 

Nomination:

Derrick is an excellent, caring, hard-working direct care staff, and the May is so lucky to have him. Last April he performed the Heimlich maneuver on an individual choking in the day program, saving his life. He acted so fast and instinctually. He doesn't ask for any praise, and even when no one is looking, he goes above and beyond. There is no one more deserving.
 
Derrick is the best. He works at a residential house and at the Day Hab program in Revere. He knows all the needs of the individuals at his house and at the program. He's always willing to help everyone and as well as teach new staff. On Sundays, he grooms all the men at the house so they look and feel good about themselves.
