Jennifer Richardson, 2010 Trustees’ Fund Awardee

Program Coordinator
Adult Services, Eastern Massachusetts; Reservoir Avenue Residence
Revere, Mass.

Since Jennifer Richardson began supervising the Reservoir Avenue program in Revere this past year, she has demonstrated a tireless dedication to the individuals she serves. She has brought about tremendous improvements within the home and has enhanced the residents’ quality of life in many noticeable and significant ways.

Her accomplishments at the home include setting up music lessons for one of the residents and increasing the number of outings for all of the residents. With Jennifer’s assistance, the residents have participated in local food drives and volunteered at a local animal shelter. All of them enjoy being a part of their local community.

There are many challenging aspects to overseeing this home and Jennifer takes them all in stride. She has shown a particular interest and strength in the clinical aspects of her job. Jennifer’s developing clinical expertise has contributed to a significant decrease in maladaptive behaviors at the residence. This, in turn, has allowed the individuals to be able to enjoy more outings and activities. During the summer, Jennifer planned and hosted a cook out for the residents, their families, and guardians. There was a wonderful turn-out for this event and it facilitated more positive relations between residents, staff, and family members.

Jennifer is also working toward her goal of developing the skills she needs to become part of May Institute’s clinical team. She is currently working closely with our Director of Clinical Services and a Psychiatrist as she completes her degree in Applied Behavior Analysis. With the supervision of the team, Jennifer has written behavior support plans for her residents that have contributed to the decrease of their targeted behaviors which, in turn, has improved their quality of life.

Jennifer’s dedication, attention to detail, and strong desire to improve the lives of others makes her an ideal candidate for a Trustees’ Award.
