Dr. Nathan Lambright Shares ABA Expertise with Chinese Educators

06/21/16

Nathan Lambright, Psy.D., BCBA-D, May’s Vice President of Clinical Services in Educational Services, recently traveled to China to represent May Institute at an educational forum presented by the Stars and Rain Educational Institute for Autism in Beijing.

During his visit, Dr. Lambright attended the organization’s Forum for Talent Development for Special Education where a group of teachers from all over China were recognized as the best teachers in the field. These outstanding educators were invited to attend specialized training sessions conducted by highly respected clinicians.

A featured presenter, Dr. Lambright gave a seminar on the use of applied behavior analysis (ABA) to teach children with autism, and a workshop on data collection and using ABA to decrease challenging behaviors.

While in Beijing, he also had the opportunity to tour a Stars and Rain school for young children, watch parent training sessions, and meet the staff at a school for older children.

May Institute and Stars and Rain have developed a collegial, reciprocal relationship over the past few years. In April 2015, Dr. Lauren Solotar, May’s President and CEO, and Dr. Bob Putnam, May’s Executive Vice President of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, were sponsored presenters at an international autism seminar in Beijing organized by Stars and Rain. Last fall, we hosted Stars and Rain representatives, including Executive Director Sun Zhongkai, at our campus in Randolph, Mass.

Stars and Rain is a non-governmental educational organization that serves children living in China with autism spectrum disorder. During the recent forum, Stars and Rain representatives announced that it would launch an institute to train teachers to work with children with autism in the new few years.
