Dr. Cynthia Anderson Serves as Guest Editor for Behavior Modification Journal; Co-authors Introductory Article

Cynthia Anderson, Ph.D., BCBA-D, Senior Vice President of Applied Behavior Analysis for May Institute, and Director of May Institute’s National Autism Center, served as a guest editor of a special issue of the Behavior Modification journal focused on school-based interventions for students with autism spectrum disorder.

Dr. Anderson co-authored the issue’s introductory article along with Tristram Smith, Ph.D., BCBA-D, of University of Rochester Medical Center, and Susan M. Wilczynski, Ph.D., BCBA-D, of Ball State University.

The special issue highlighted recent research on supporting students with ASD in schools. Studies spanned core and associated deficit areas of ASD including communication and social interaction and repetitive behavior. In their introductory article, Dr. Anderson and her colleagues highlighted the need for continuing research on feasibility and effectiveness of intervention strategies in school settings. Dr. Anderson oversees clinical services at May Institute, providing consultation and support to all staff. She also promotes research in and dissemination of evidence-based practices through the National Autism Center.
