Moving Beyond Single-Disorder Treatment Protocols: Evidence-Based Treatment of Anxiety and Comorbid Psychiatric Disorders

Join us for this workshop that is part of our intermediate to advanced-level workshop series for human services and behavioral healthcare professionals working in clinical, educational, medical, and rehabilitation settings.

Instructor:  Alexander H. Queen, Ph.D.

Description:  Anxiety disorders are the most prevalent psychiatric conditions among children and adults. Although multiple evidence-based treatment manuals for specific disorders exist, anxiety disorders rarely occur in isolation from other psychiatric conditions, particularly among individuals who present for treatment. This talk will review the comorbidity of anxiety and related psychiatric disorders, including recent advances in cognitive and emotion science that may explain this comorbidity. The talk will conclude with a review and discussion of evidence-based approaches to treating anxiety among individuals with comorbid diagnoses, including depression, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, and autism spectrum disorders. 

This workshop will be valuable to human services and behavioral health care professionals working in clinical, educational, medical, and rehabilitation settings.
