International Training & Consultation

May Institute and its National Autism Center respond to national and global demand for a broad range of needs and services. These include:

  • Program evaluation and consultation
  • Dissemination of best practices in applied behavior analysis treatment of autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities
  • Technical assistance and training in best practices (applied behavior analysis, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, etc.)
  • Mentoring
  • Technical support
  • Evidence-based treatment of autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities
  • Consultation regarding state-of-the-art program development and operations of schools and programs for autism

In 2016, we were selected to participate in the U.S. State Department’s Speaker Program, and were subsequently invited to provide training and consultation in applied behavior analysis and autism spectrum disorder in both Oman and Dubai. The Speaker Program is managed by the State Department’s Bureau of International Information Programs, which organizes traveling and electronic events for American experts to engage with foreign audiences worldwide.

What follows are some of the highlights of our international collaborations over the past several years:

January 2017 — Four of our employees presented at the "Launch of the National Training Program for Autism Spectrum Disorder" conference in Muscat, Oman. Read more here.

October 2016 — Dr. Ralph Sperry, who holds a joint appointment as Chief Operating Officer for both May Institute and its National Autism Center (NAC), and Dr. Robert Putnam, a member of May Institute’s executive leadership team, and Senior Vice President of Research and Consultation for NAC, traveled to Oman on a trip that was sponsored by the Omani Ministry of Social Development. They delivered a four-day workshop on autism treatment in Muscat, the capital of Oman and the seat of government.

May 2016 — Dr. Nathan Lambright, Vice President of Clinical Services in Educational Services at May Institute, attended the "Forum for Talent Development for Special Education" in Beijing held for teachers from across China. He presented a seminar on the use of applied behavior analysis (ABA) to teach children with autism and gave a workshop on data collection and using ABA to decrease challenging behaviors.  [Read about visit]

May 2016 — Dr. Ralph Sperry, May Institute Chief Operating Officer, and Dr. Bob Putnam, Executive Vice President, Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, visited autism organizations in Qatar and Abu Dhabi to explore potential collaborative ventures.

May 2016 — May Institute hosts visitors from Saint Andrew's Autism Centre in Singapore during a visit to our campus in Randolph, Mass. [Read about visit.]

November 2015 — May Institute staff hosted leaders from Stars and Rain in China, a non-governmental educational organization that serves children living in China with autism spectrum disorder. [Read about  visit]

April 2015 — May Institute President and CEO Lauren C. Solotar, Ph.D., ABPP, and Bob Putnam, Ph.D., BCBA-D, Executive Vice President, Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, were invited as sponsored presenters to share their expertise in applied behavior analysis (ABA) at the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Heart Alliance Autism Learning Network, International Autism Seminar organized by Stars and Rain Educational Institute for Autism in Beijing, China.
