May School | Mansfield Opens its Doors to Address the Urgent Need for Specialized Autism Services

10/6/25

Randolph, Mass.—May Institute, a national nonprofit leader in applied behavior analysis (ABA) and evidence-based interventions for autistic individuals and individuals with developmental disabilities, welcomed the first cohort of students to May School | Mansfield today. The 22,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art school provides integrated clinical and educational services, with a curriculum designed to prepare students for adulthood.

Autism diagnoses continue to rise, affecting approximately one in 31 children in the U.S., with nearly six million autistic adults nationwide. This new school exemplifies May Institute’s continued commitment to expanding access to transformative educational services. May School | Mansfield is May Institute’s seventh special education school.

May School | Mansfield will serve 48 students, including those with profound autism who are ages 3 to 22, and require a highly specialized and supportive program. An interprofessional team will deliver individualized instruction tailored to the development of communication, academic, social, behavioral, and vocational skills, and fostering independence.

“For 70 years, May Institute has led the way in educating autistic individuals. Opening this new school continues that legacy—helping students thrive in the classroom, participate meaningfully in their communities, and live their best possible lives,” said Lauren C. Solotar, Ph.D., ABPP, President and CEO of May Institute. “By combining individualized instruction that is grounded in evidence-based practices with opportunities to build essential life skills, we create a wonderful environment where students can succeed.”

May School | Mansfield features large, bright classrooms, an adaptive gymnasium and playground, library and media center, art and music rooms, cafeteria, gross motor skills room, and expansive common areas. May Institute teamed with Infinity Group to design and build the new school.
All May Schools are fully approved and licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). May Institute is a member of the Massachusetts Association of 766 Approved Private Schools (MAAPS).
