May Institute Prepares for 60th Anniversary with New Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan
08/26/14
Randolph, Mass. – May Institute, a leading national provider of educational, rehabilitative, and behavioral healthcare services for individuals with special needs, is looking to the future as it prepares to celebrate its 60
th anniversary next year.
The organization’s
leadership team recently completed an in-depth planning process that culminated in the unveiling of a comprehensive three-year strategic plan. At the outset of the process, the team, along with the Board of Trustees, reviewed the Institute’s mission and vision and revised them to reflect new priorities and future goals, while embracing the organization’s tradition of excellence.
“Our new mission and vision statements articulate both the foundation and aspirations of May Institute,” said Lauren C. Solotar, Ph.D., ABPP, May Institute’s President and CEO. “They helped guide our strategic plan development process, during which we took a careful look at our operating environment and collected valuable input from face-to-face discussions with employees, small group meetings, targeted analyses, and an organization-wide survey,” said Solotar.
The final step in the team’s planning process was to identify key goals that addressed all aspects of the organization. These 45 goals were then narrowed down to nine strategic areas: human resources; technology, finance; facilities; growth and new services; development/fundraising; quality/clinical philosophy; governance; and diversity and inclusion. A task force was assigned to each area and charged with developing comprehensive plans to accomplish identified goals. Those plans will guide the organization over the coming years and help to measure success.
“This process of renewal and recommitment has been extremely positive, and we are pleased with the outcomes,” said Don Ricciato, Ph.D., Chairman of the Institute’s Board of Trustees. “The organization is fully prepared to execute its strategy and deliver the highest quality, evidence-based services to families across the country. We will leverage our strengths to do what we’ve always done, but to do so even more effectively tomorrow and in the years to come.”
“As we prepare to mark our 60
th anniversary,” added Dr. Solotar, “we look forward to celebrating the inroads we have made and our continued commitment to provide outstanding services to individuals with special needs. We are poised and ready for the next chapter of the organization’s history.”
