May Institute Named a Top Women-Led Business in Massachusetts

President and CEO Dr. Lauren C. Solotar Honored by The Commonwealth Institute

Randolph, Mass. — May Institute, a national nonprofit provider of services across the lifespan for individuals with autism spectrum disorder and other special needs, has been named number 30 in The Commonwealth Institute’s 2018 list of Top 100 Women-Led Businesses in Massachusetts. This is the third consecutive year that May Institute has been selected for inclusion on this list.

The Commonwealth Institute is a non-profit organization devoted to advancing businesswomen in leadership positions in Massachusetts. Its annual Top 100 list celebrates successful for-profit and nonprofit businesses that have made a significant impact on the Commonwealth’s economy – and the women who lead them. This year marks the 17th year of this tradition.

The top 100 winners were honored at a celebratory breakfast held on October 26th at the Marriott Copley Hotel in Boston with more than 800 people in attendance. The names of the winning organizations and their leaders were published in the Women and Power edition of the Boston Globe Magazine on October 28th.

“From human services and arts to construction and technology, female executives are the decision makers for Bay State firms with thousands of employees and billions of dollars in revenue,” according to the Globe article.

“Women now hold 70 percent of May Institute’s senior clinical leadership positions,” said Lauren C. Solotar, Ph.D., ABPP, May Institute President and CEO. “This past year, these women have played a vital role in helping our organization further advance its position of excellence in the field of applied behavior analysis and to meet the growing demand for autism services nationally and globally.”

May Institute was also cited as one of the 16 companies whose board of trustees was comprised of 50 percent or more of women. Mary Lou Maloney serves as board chairperson.
