Randolph, Mass. — May Institute has recently expanded its May Center for ABA Services in Randolph to help infants, toddlers, and young children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) improve communication, social, interaction, independence, and adaptive skills. May Institute is a national network of programs and services for individuals across the lifespan with autism, neurobehavioral disorders, and other special needs.
The center, which is located at 41 Pacella Park Drive in Randolph, will host a Holiday Open House for the general public on Saturday, December 8, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The Open House provides an opportunity for families to drop by and learn more about applied behavior analysis (ABA) and center-based services. Fun activities for children will include cookie decorating and ornament crafts. Light refreshments will be served.
“We are delighted to be expanding our early intensive behavioral program for children with ASD,” said Ivy Chong, Ph.D., BCBA-D, M.B.A., Senior Vice President of Home, School, and Center-based Services for May Institute. “Center-based services create meaningful learning opportunities for children to master critical skills in their homes, the community, or other environments.”
The center provides half-day or full-day services that feature individualized instruction based on the principles of applied behavior analysis. ABA is the methodology universally recognized as the only evidence-based intervention for children with a diagnosis of ASD and other behavioral or developmental disabilities. Research shows that early and intensive intervention can significantly impact long-term prognosis, particularly in the areas of language and social behavior.
The May Center for ABA Services currently has openings for a limited number of new students, and accepts many commercial and private insurances, as well as private pay. Parents whose children attend the center receive parent coaching and consultation. Consultation focuses on teaching caregivers to work with their children to reduce problematic behavior and generalize, or transfer, skills they learn at the center to their home setting.
