Randolph, Mass. — May Institute is proud to announce that Debra Blair, M.B.A., CMA, CPA, Chief Operating Officer, has been appointed to the Massachusetts Governor’s Commission on Intellectual Disability. The Commission advises the Governor on critical issues impacting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) across the Commonwealth.

Ms. Blair’s appointment is a reflection of her decades-long dedication to advancing high quality services, supports, and advocacy for individuals with IDD and their families. As the Chief Operating Officer of May Institute and the National Autism Center, she oversees the organization's day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives to ensure the delivery of high-quality services and programs for autistic individuals and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, brain injury, and neurobehavioral disorders across the lifespan.

“This is an important opportunity to contribute to a cause that’s deeply meaningful to me and the entire May Institute team: improving the lives and strengthening supports for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities,” said Ms. Blair. “Especially today, with critical resources increasingly threatened, it's more vital than ever that we advocate fiercely, innovate solutions, and work collaboratively to ensure individuals with IDD have every opportunity to thrive, live with dignity, and participate fully in our communities.”

The Governor’s Commission on Intellectual Disability brings together stakeholders from across the state, including self-advocates, family members, service providers, and policy experts. The Commission plays a pivotal role in shaping public policy, expanding access to services, and promoting equity and inclusion for individuals with IDD.

“We are thrilled that Deb will be contributing her deep expertise and compassionate leadership to the Commission,” said Lauren C. Solotar, Ph.D., ABPP, President and CEO of May Institute. “She brings a wealth of knowledge from decades of service in the field and a fierce commitment to advancing innovative and compassionate services.”

Ms. Blair’s appointment underscores May Institute’s continued commitment to advancing inclusive, evidence-based care and championing the rights of individuals with disabilities in Massachusetts and beyond.
