Randolph, Mass. – Neal Todrys, President of Todson, Inc., – a leader in cycling accessories since 1946 – has been named Chairperson of the Board of Directors at May Institute. Mr. Todrys succeeds Mary Lou Maloney who retired as Chairperson in December after serving a three-year term.
May Institute, a nonprofit organization with a national reputation for excellence in the field of applied behavior analysis, serves individuals with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities, brain injury and neurobehavioral disorder, and other special needs.
Mr. Todrys has been an active and enthusiastic participant in May Institute fundraising initiatives and has played a pivotal role in philanthropic efforts that have helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars to improve programs and technology initiatives. He led a fundraising effort for a splash pad at the May Center School for Autism and Developmental Disabilities in Randolph, Mass., and matched all board donations.
“I’ve tried to immerse myself in May by participating not only in its philanthropic efforts but also its operations by being part of the Policy Committee for May, and by visiting group homes and schools to better understand the inner workings and challenges of the organization,” said Mr. Todrys.
Todrys chairs May’s Philanthropy Committee and has been a member since its founding. He also served as co-chair of the organization’s 60th anniversary fundraising celebration in 2015. He was one of May Institute’s “founding riders” for the Rodman Ride for Kids cycling fundraising event in 2007. He rode in all eight rides that included a May Institute team, and supported the event each year as a corporate sponsor as well.
“Neal has been one of the organization’s most generous benefactors since he joined our Board of Directors 17 years ago,” said May Institute President and CEO Lauren C. Solotar, Ph.D., ABBP. “He cares deeply about our mission to enhance the lives of individuals with special needs, and we have benefited enormously from his business acumen and guidance. I am delighted that he now plays an even greater role in the organization’s oversight.”
May Institute has annual revenues of more than $137M, and serves thousands of individuals and families at 144 programs and sites around the country.
Mr. Todrys is joined at the leadership level by Board of Director members Richard Wichmann, the new Vice Chairperson and Assistant Treasurer; and Nancy Nager, who serves as the Board’s new Secretary. May Institute benefits from the fiduciary oversight of a 16-member Board of Directors.
