May Institute Again Named a Top Women-Led Business in Massachusetts

Randolph, Mass. — May Institute, a national nonprofit provider of services across the lifespan for individuals with autism spectrum disorder and other special needs, has been named number 33 in The Commonwealth Institute’s 2019 list of Top 100 Women-Led Businesses in Massachusetts. 

This is the fourth consecutive year that May Institute has been selected for inclusion on this list.

The Commonwealth Institute is a non-profit organization devoted to advancing businesswomen in leadership positions in Massachusetts. Its annual Top 100 list celebrates successful for-profit and nonprofit businesses that have made a significant impact on the Commonwealth’s economy – and the women who lead them. This year marks the 19th year of this tradition.

The top 100 winners were honored at a celebratory breakfast held on November 8th at the Marriott Copley Hotel in Boston with more than 1,000 people in attendance. The names of the winning organizations and their leaders were published in the Women and Power edition of the Boston Globe Magazine on November 10.

“This list of power brokers includes leaders of health care companies, retail giants, construction heavyweights, financial institutions, nonprofit groups, and many more. All told, the women featured here are calling the shots for thousands of employees and billions in revenue,” according to the Globe article.

“Women hold more than 60 percent of May Institute’s executive leadership positions,” said Lauren C. Solotar, Ph.D., ABPP, May Institute President and CEO. “We are always looking to increase the diversity of our staff across the organization, and design initiatives to provide platforms for inclusion and opportunities for the growth and development of our employees. ”

May Institute was also cited as one of the 29 companies whose board of directors was comprised of 50 percent or more of women. Mary Lou Maloney serves as board chairperson.
