May Institute Community Services Earn National Accreditation

West Springfield, Mass., — May Institute community services in western Massachusetts and Connecticut have received a three-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

CARF accreditation was awarded to the Institute’s community housing, supported living, community integration, and child and youth services. May Institute’s school for students with autism and other developmental disabilities in West Springfield, Mass., earned a three-year CARF accreditation in 2005. Combined, these achievements result in full CARF accreditation for all western Massachusetts and Connecticut locations.

“The organization is staffed by well-qualified, rigorously trained staff members who are truly dedicated to their jobs,” the CARF report noted. “The unique programs have a broad continuum of support services, including nursing, transportation, psychological and psychiatric services, and other services that are all coordinated to give persons the best care available.”

Three-year CARF accreditation represents the highest level of compliance and is granted to organizations that exhibit substantial fulfillment of those standards established by the Commission. Accreditation of May Institute’s programs and services in western Massachusetts and Connecticut is a result of a rigorous peer review process and a demonstration of the highest quality, measurability, and accountability.
