May Institute Raises $100,000 Through the Rodman Ride for Kids

Randolph, Mass. — With strong support from corporate sponsors Merrill Lynch and Todson, Inc., May Institute members, employees, and friends have raised more than $100,000 for children with autism, brain injury, and other special needs as a participating beneficiary of this year’s Rodman Ride for Kids. One hundred percent of these funds will directly benefit the estimated 16,000 children served by May Institute throughout New England.

Jory Berkwits, First Vice President for Merrill Lynch, Boston, and Neil Todrys, President and CEO of Todson, Inc., in Foxboro, secured corporate funding and recruited teams of riders from their organizations in support of May Institute. Both Berkwits and Todrys are long-time members of the Institute’s Board of Trustees. Berkwits, an avid athlete, and Todrys, a long-distance cyclist, were flanked by their corporate teams during the trek. They rode alongside May Institute staff members, many of whom were riding on behalf of the children served through the organization’s many specialized programs.

“We were honored to be invited to participate for the first time in the Rodman Ride for Kids, and are delighted with our tremendous success,” said Heidi Howard, May Institute’s Chief of Strategic Development. “We applaud Mr. Berkwits and Mr. Todrys for their leadership and generosity, and thank our devoted staff and families who participated in and supported the Ride.”

About the Rodman Ride

The Rodman Ride for Kids is an umbrella matching gift charity that raises funds for a wide variety of children’s social service agencies across Massachusetts. The Ride for Kids and its beneficiary agencies fundraise throughout the year. These efforts culminate each fall with the event itself – a 25-, 50-, or 100-mile non-competitive cycling tour. Since its inception in 1991, the Ride for Kids has raised over $25 million to help children.
