May Institute Participates in Rodman Ride for Kids; Raises More than $143,000

01/20/09

Randolph, Mass. — With strong support from top corporate sponsors Stephen H. Peck & Associates, Merrill Lynch, and Todson, Inc., May Institute board members, employees, and friends raised $143,750 for children with autism, brain injury, and other special needs by participating in the most recent Rodman Ride for Kids.

This total includes the Institute’s $125,000 goal and $18,750 contributed by Ride President Don Rodman, who matched 15% of every dollar raised. One hundred percent of these funds will directly benefit the estimated 16,000 children in New England who receive services from May Institute. This was the organization’s second year as a participating beneficiary of the Rodman Ride

Jory Berkwits, First Vice President for Merrill Lynch, Boston, and Neil Todrys, President and CEO of Todson, Inc., in Foxboro are long-time members of the Institute’s Board of Trustees. Both men recruited teams of riders from their organizations and rode alongside May Institute staff members during the race.

“We are delighted that we met the challenge and reached our goal, which was more than double that of last year,” said Heidi Howard, May Institute’s Chief of Business Development. “We are very grateful to our generous sponsors, families, staff, and community members. On behalf of the children served by May Institute’s many specialized programs, I would like to thank all of the individuals who provided sponsorship support, rode, or contributed in any way to the success of this event.”

About the Rodman Ride
The Rodman Ride for Kids is an umbrella matching gift charity that raises funds for a wide variety of children’s social service agencies across Massachusetts. The Ride for Kids and its beneficiary agencies fundraise throughout the year. These efforts culminate each fall with the event itself – a 25-, 50-, or 100-mile non-competitive cycling tour. Since its inception in 1991, the Ride for Kids has raised over $37 million for child-related social service agencies in the state.
