Santa Cruz Resident Receives May Institute’s Prestigious Trustees’ Fund Award

Randolph, Mass. – Taylor Schauer, a teacher trainee at The Bay School in Santa Cruz, has received a Trustees’ Fund Award from May Institute’s Board of Trustees. The award is given to a select group of employees nominated by their peers and supervisors. Recipients of the 2014 awards were recently honored at a ceremony at the organization’s corporate office in Randolph, Mass.

May Institute is a national nonprofit organization that provides educational, rehabilitative, and behavioral healthcare services to individuals with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities, brain injury, mental illness, and other behavioral health needs. The Institute employs approximately 2,000 staff across the country. The Bay School where Schauer teaches is one of May Institute’s four special education schools for students with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities.
 
The Trustees’ Fund Award is the highest honor given to an employee by the organization. It was created in 1993 to recognize the exceptional contributions of staff members who epitomize the organization’s ideals of service and professionalism.

About The Bay School
The Bay School, a May Center School for Autism and Developmental Disabilities, is a nonpublic, nonprofit school dedicated to providing education and intervention services to individuals with autism and their families. It is one of May Institute's four special education schools in Massachusetts and California for students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other special needs. Founded in 1999, this year-round school serves students with autism between the ages of 5 and 22. Our highly trained staff utilize the most effective methods of working with children with autism.
