May Institute Celebrates Black History Month

Stretching the entire length of the hallway from 1926 to 2026, this powerful timeline brings a century of Black history to life. From the Harlem Renaissance and the brilliance of Langston Hughes to the courage of Black Americans in WWII, the leadership of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Civil Rights Acts, the birth of hip-hop, the historic presidency of Barack Obama and the influence of Michelle Obama, to today’s youth activism — each milestone is thoughtfully represented.

This project meant a great deal to our staff, and it shows. Every detail was carefully researched and intentionally placed, creating not just a display, but an immersive journey through history. It stands as a meaningful tribute to resilience, leadership, creativity, and progress.
