Description: Sensory experiences play a critical role in child development, supporting engagement, exploration, and learning. For autistic children, unique sensory processing styles can be harnessed as strengths—providing powerful opportunities for growth, communication, and self-advocacy. This collaborative presentation explores how sensory integration can be used to foster independence and empower autistic children to express their needs. Attendees will gain practical strategies for supporting self-advocacy through everyday sensory experiences, with a focus on family-centered, neurodiversity-affirming approaches.
