Description: Functional communication training (FCT) is a widely used intervention to address problem behavior exhibited by individual with developmental disabilities. In this presentation, the importance of variables related to the selection of the communicative response included in FCT-based interventions on treatment efficacy and maintenance will be discussed. The data are intended to highlight for practitioners and researchers the importance that communication response selection plays in successful treatment outcomes.
