While some of our students are not verbal, many have functional verbal language, or learn to communicate with pictures or electronic communication devices.
Students use iPads for both learning and leisure throughout their school day and at their residences. In addition, our Media Center offers a smart board with an interactive display that augments the school’s educational programming, and several computers that are used to teach typing and computer skills including Internet use, email, and research.
At May Center Randolph, our autism program integrates various technologies to support individualized education program goals and enhance the learning experience. Each classroom is equipped with 2-3 iPads loaded with tailored educational apps. Interactive smart displays are installed in some classrooms for dynamic group instruction. Our library features Virtual Reality goggles used for immersive experiences and therapeutic purposes. Our students can also benefit from accessing a 3D printer, as it allows them to create tactile learning aids and models that cater to their unique interests, fostering hands-on engagement and deeper comprehension of geometric concepts.
