Michelle

When Michelle was three years old, I was basically told that an institution was the answer for my child. That would have been the biggest mistake we could have ever made.

Michelle has autism, and she has proven every educated guess wrong.

It was so hard at first, because there is so much information you don't know. You don't know where to turn. Without May Institute, Michelle would not be who she is, and she would not have the potential to keep growing. I have never felt alone here. Never.

The goal is that she contributes to society and feels good about that. I never thought this could ever happen. Michelle may need 24-7 care, but this child is so happy about who she is. And that's the most important thing. That's what we all want for our children - that they fly as far as they can. And she will.

- Terri, Michelle's mother
