Kathleen Erkkila, B.S.N., RN

School Nurse, May Center School for Autism and Developmental Disabilities, Wilmington, Mass.

As the School Nurse at our Wilmington school, Kathleen’s responsibilities include providing healthcare to students for acute and chronic illnesses and injury; teaching staff to manage emergency situations; collaborating with medical and educational staff members to ensure compliance with the most up-to-date healthcare policies and procedures; and maintaining healthcare records.

She joined May Institute in 2005 as a nurse at our Randolph school, and transferred to the Woburn school in 2008. After leaving May for few years to work as a Nurse Manager on a subacute rehabilitation floor closer to her home, she returned to us in March of 2025, after accepting her current position.

Earlier in her career, Kathleen worked for 13 years in pediatric homecare.

Kathleen received her licensed practical nurse (LPN) diploma from Esssex Agricultural College in 1991, and earned an associate’s degree in Nursing from Middlesex Community College in 2020. She graduated from Chamberlain College in 2021with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing (RN).

Kathleen is certified in Basic Life Support, holds instructor’s certification from the American Red Cross, and is certified as a Wound Nurse and an Infection Preventionist for Massachusetts.
