Julie Hopper, SPHR, SHRM-SCP

Vice President, Corporate Human Relations and Human Relations Operations


As Vice President of Corporate Human Relations (HR) and HR Operations for May Institute, Ms. Hopper oversees HR operations functions – compensation, benefits, leaves and workers’ compensation, systems, and HR compliance. She is also responsible for HR business partner functions, and takes a leadership role in the execution of May’s strategic goals.

She began her career at May Institute in 1998 as a Program Coordinator for Adult Services in the organization’s Cape Cod and Southeastern Massachusetts (CCSE) region, and later served as an Assistant Residential Director in CCSE. In 2006, she pivoted her focus to Human Resources and accepted a position as an HR Generalist on the Cape.

Since then, she has served the organization in a number of HR-related roles including HR Business Partner, Senior HR Business Partner, Director of Field HR, and Senior Director of Human Resources before being promoted to her current position.

As an HR professional, Ms. Hopper earned her Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification in 2012 and later earned her SHRM-SCP certification in 2015. Both are advanced-level credentials for HR professionals.

In addition to her work at May Institute, through the years Ms. Hopper has held volunteer HR roles and has served in a number of HR board positions.
