Heather Maxim

Director of Residential Services, Southeastern Massachusetts

Heather joined May Institute in 2002 as relief staff while she was still in school, and worked at the Mashpee Day Habilitation program and in several residences on Cape Cod. 

After May expanded its adult services to Raynham and acquired more homes off the Cape, she accepted a permanent position as a Program Specialist at the Raynham Day Habilitation program. 

From there, Heather worked as a lead teacher in several classrooms at the Raynham Day Habilitation program, then as a Program Coordinator at a group home in Easton, Mass., before becoming an Assistant Director. She is now the Director of Residential Services for Southeastern Massachusetts.

In her current role, Heather oversees adult homes in Southeastern Massachusetts. She works cooperatively with a team of Assistant Residential Directors, clinicians, and nurses to support managers and staff in the pursuit of excellent supports for those in May’s care. Her responsibilities include coordinating the opening of new programs, ensuring compliance with state regulations, and promoting an enriching and engaging environment where people can learn, grow, and pursue their interests.

Heather earned a bachelor's degree from Assumption University with a major in Psychology and minors in French and Theology. She is currently working on a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership at University of Massachusetts Global.
