Terese Brennan, M.S.
Senior Vice President, Quality Improvement and Compliance

Terese Brennan, M.S., is May Institute’s Senior Vice President of Quality Improvement. In this role, she is responsible for the development and implementation of organization-wide performance improvement and quality management programs.

She provides leadership and guidance for all May Institute locations, working with each program’s management team to ensure that all programs meet agency and other professional standards. This includes all state and federal guidelines, and requirements of the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), and other accrediting organizations.

In addition, Ms. Brennan oversees the Corporate Compliance Program. In this role, she functions independently and objectively in the review and evaluation of compliance issues across  the organization. The Compliance Officer, together with the Corporate Compliance Committee, implements all necessary actions to ensure achievement of the objectives of an effective compliance program.

Ms. Brennan is also the Privacy Officer and Safety Officer for the Institute, responsible for privacy and confidentiality as well as safety risk management.

She has served May Institute in a variety of capacities over the past 20+ years, beginning as Behavior Specialist at the organization’s first school in Chatham, Mass. She has held several positions, including Program Coordinator and Director of Day and Vocational Services. Ms. Brennan joined the Quality Improvement department in 1995.

She has developed and conducted performance improvement processes in a variety of areas, and overseen the development and implementation of effective outcome measurement systems and standardization of safety systems and operations.

Ms. Brennan received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and her master’s degree in Total Quality Management Systems from Anna Maria College. While working for May Institute, Ms. Brennan conducted her Master’s project with the agency. The end product was the development of a monitoring tool for the agency that measured quality of services to the individuals supported.
