[Read press release here.]

Zaida Carter has received a Trustees' Fund Award from May Institute's Board of Trustees. The award is given annually to a select group of employees who are nominated by their peers and supervisors. This year's recipients were honored at a ceremony at the organization's corporate offices in Randolph, Mass. What follows is an excerpt from Zaidi's nomination:

There are no words that can truly describe how important Zaida is to our program. She is responsible for the billing of services through insurance companies, maintaining productivity sheets, and assisting in the overseeing of the budget.

She is basically the sole person who provides us with the tools we need to run an excellent program. This past year has been particularly challenging due to the new Department of Public Health billing, Central Reach, insurance requirements, and ongoing conference calls with providers to discuss all the changes in our “under 3” system. Zaida has taken on these changes with professionalism and a positive attitude. We rely on her to explain the insurance challenges in “layperson terms,” and she does this with patience and a sense of humor.

Zaida and her supervisor review the budgets and develop a plan that is reasonable and will point us in the direction to stay out of the red. In addition to all her administrative duties, Zaida is so compassionate and understanding when speaking with families. Because she is bilingual, she is our primary contact person for those interested in “over 3” services. She takes the time to explain all the very complicated steps involved and will go above and beyond to make sure all the parents’ fears are alleviated. We rely on Zaida every day!
