Paul Heering
2015 Trustees' Fund Award Recipient

Behavior Analyst Consultation Services, Eastern Mass.
Coordinator of Clinical Information Systems, May Institute Randolph, Mass.

After graduating with a degree in Psychology in 2002, Paul joined May Institute to provide consultation in public schools and families’ homes. He became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in 2003.

One of Paul’s great strengths is his ability to build electronic systems to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of our services. For example, after he built electronic systems to improve his own documentation of case notes and activity logs, he provided training to other May staff on these systems.

He also built an online data collection system through Google® docs that improved his families’ abilities to collect data more accurately and efficiently. This resulted in conference presentations and workshops. Consequently, Paul was asked to lead May Institute’s development and implementation of an electronic medical record system with our business partner, Central Reach. The focus was to develop an electronic data collection and program development system to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of our service delivery.

Paul has an uncanny ability to provide visualizations of how screens should look to the Central Reach developers that improve the functionality of the system. He has also taught developers how data should be collected, analyzed, and presented. Paul has overseen our first pilot, and has been extremely helpful in problem-solving effective training on the system to May staff.

Paul has made significant contributions to the development and implementation of our electronic medical and data collection system. Many of his colleagues think that this system will be a “game changer” in improving the effectiveness and efficiency of our services. Paul’s skills and commitment to the success of this initiative have been invaluable.
