Lynn Demers

The Employee Recognition & Appreciation committee congratulates Lynn Demers for being selected for an Employee Spotlight Award in the Spring of 2021! The award recognizes the exceptional contributions of May employees. Winners are nominated by their colleagues, managers, and supervisors from across the organization. 

Nomination:
Lynn has been invaluable in keeping individuals and employees at the May Center for Adult Services in Western Ma as safe and healthy as possible during this past year as we navigated the challenges brought by the pandemic. Lynn has always been dedicated to her job, the individuals served at her Center, and her colleagues. But her dedication and commitment have only increased in the past year. From setting up and coordinating COVID-19 vaccination clinics for employees and individuals served at her Center, to continuing to manage the healthcare of individuals served, to providing training and support to staff, to communicating with families and guardians, Lynn has played a key role not only in the regular operations of the WMA Adult Center, but in managing her Center’s response to the pandemic. And through it all, Lynn has maintained her compassion, generosity of spirit, perspective, and sense of humor.

Here’s what Lynn said winning the Employee Spotlight Award means to her:

“There are so many reasons why I am proud to work for May Institute. The individuals move me in so many ways, from overcoming adversity to them finding the things that bring them joy. I consider it a great honor to serve people from when they first come through the door until their last breath. The staff are truly amazing. This was especially noticeable this year. They brought compassion, creativity, and the ability to turn a sometimes-scary situation into a supportive, nurturing environment. The families I have worked with over the years have been very moving. I have countless stories that have brought me to tears of joy and sorrow. The team of people I work with are the backbone of how I can continue doing my job in the best possible way. It feels like the more challenging a situation becomes, the more this group steps up to the plate to support each other. I like to use my favorite word to describe them, A-May-Zing!!!”
