Kevin North
2025 Exceptional Service Award Recipient

Behavior Specialist
May School
West Springfield, Mass.

Nomination:

Kevin is an exemplary model for a dedicated, motivated, and engaged employee. He started at May as an Instructor and quickly made it known that he was someone to rely on. His organizational skills, calm demeanor, and “get it done” attitude set him apart. He transitioned between classrooms and took over an exceptionally difficult case where data collection and graphing were shared across the student’s interdisciplinary team. His attention to detail allowed us to summarize intensive data collection of the student’s day and the student’s health.

He later stepped up to the role of substitute Behavior Specialist, demonstrating an ability to learn quickly, communicate with the team effectively, and adapt and implement behavioral changes almost immediately. Most recently, he was promoted to Behavior Specialist and has been a pillar in the classroom for staff support and student growth. He consistently meets deadlines, exceeds expectations for documentation, and is always present and engaged with every student.

To quote the leader of management education, Peter Drucker, “effective leadership is not about making speeches or being liked. Leadership is defined by results, not attributes.” Kevin produces those results through the success of his colleagues and students. Staff morale has increased, student academic progress continues to soar, and problem behaviors are on a downward trend. Parents rave about how communicative and collaborative Kevin is as a staff member. Kevin’s outstanding service and dedication to both his students and colleagues make him absolutely deserving of this award.
