The Employee Recognition & Appreciation committee congratulates Elizabeth Vargas for being selected for an Employee Spotlight Award in 2019! The award recognizes the exceptional contributions of May employees. Winners are nominated by their colleagues, managers, and supervisors from across the organization.

From Christina's nomination: Elizabeth has been described as an amazing educator, who is always available for collaboration, offering valuable input and methodologies. She strives to foster diversity throughout the school community and her colleagues say she delivers the truest ideals of an educator.

In addition, her nomination noted that her students meet and exceed high expectations. They not only achieve academically, but they develop a sense of pride in their accomplishments, which is a direct result of her excellent teaching abilities.

"Thank you to the ERA nomination committee for choosing me the ERA Spotlight Award. I have been with May Institute for 9 years. I began my time at The May as a residential staff and have been the head teacher of my own class room for 4 years. At The May I have found work for which I truly have passion. Working with the students and staff has been rewarding and challenging in the best of ways. Receiving this award has been meaningful and I truly appreciate the teachers that nominated me as I respect and admire their thoughtful dedication to education and the students.” —Elizabeth Vargas
