Developmental Specialist
May Center for Adult Services
Mashpee, Mass

[Read press release here.]

Dan has been with the May for 25 years. He started out in Chatham, where he worked in the school and at a residence. When the Chatham school closed, Dan joined the day habilitation program in Mashpee. He has been a valued member of the team for many years.

He has a very positive attitude and a calm and gentle approach when working with individuals. He doesn’t over-react in a tense situation; he responds in a calm manner. Dan consistently follows behavior support plans and implements behavioral interventions as written. He is able to help our individuals avoid undesirable behaviors because he can identify antecedents.

Dan is also a good advocate and does whatever he can to help the individuals in his care meet their goals and objectives. He enjoys escorting them on community outings that include bowling, shopping trips, and going to the beach. He is constantly looking for new activities that reflect individuals’ skills and interests.

Dan is thoughtful and analytical and has a good sense of humor, and he interacts positively with his colleagues. He is always ready to help others and to share his ideas. He goes above and beyond every day and is very deserving of an Exceptional Service Award.
