“We want Caroline!”
“Is Caroline available?”
“We don’t want to switch schools because Caroline is not going to be at the other school…”
“Can I see Miss Caroline again later today, too?”

These are comments I receive regularly from parents, students, school administrators, and school staff regarding Caroline Dunn, an outstanding direct service provider within the Boston Public Schools (BPS) contract. Over the past two years, Caroline has demonstrated clinical expertise in her position and exemplary ability to clinically and personally connect with individuals, caregivers, and school staff.

Specifically, Caroline provides services in-person (remotely during the pandemic) to students with significant trauma histories, and those who face housing and food insecurities. She never “skips a beat.” Regardless of students’ backgrounds or histories, she treats every student with the utmost respect and honor as she works with them to develop and maintain their skills across a variety of domains (e.g., social skills, communication, coping skills, etc.).

Her clinical skills are further exemplified by her Treatment Integrity data. This data is provided by supervising Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) who observe her and give her a “score” on her performance as a Direct Therapist during treatment sessions. Caroline consistently receives scores of 95-100% on her Treatment Integrity checks. Throughout the pandemic, Caroline has provided services to her students via telehealth and adapted beautifully to this new setting – she has even developed materials for students that the Assistant Program Directors and I have used as exemplars for BCBAs and direct staff. Caroline consistently represents May Institute very well across home, school, and remote learning settings, and I am thrilled to be nominating her for this award.
