Nomination:
It is my pleasure and privilege to nominate Carlos Anjo for the Employee Spotlight Award. Over the past six months the PC at the Park St. program has been out on leave. During that time, the APC Carlos Anjo has stepped up and is responsible for keeping the program operating. Carlos has worked many additional hours, trained new incoming staff, ordered all medications, ensured the men get to all medical appointments, coordinated supply purchasing for the program, assisted with the scheduling of staff, completed all paperwork for the program to remain in compliance, as well as updating all individual case files as needed throughout. Carlos’ communication with the Assistant Director, families and guardians, and DDS has been excellent and timely.
Throughout the extended leave of his Supervisor, Carlos has had to “learn on the fly” about various May Institute systems but has maintained a positive attitude and asked for help when needed. Despite the additional stress and responsibilities Carlos has kept the needs of the men and their health and safety as his priority. Carlos remains an excellent advocate for the individuals at Park Street, and his investment in their personal engagement and enjoyment is strong as evidenced by things like organizing a special birthday, or holiday celebrations for the men and ensuring they have gifts, family contact, and special meals. Due to his dedication and hard work when the program was in a time of need, the individuals supported at Park Street have not only remained safe and healthy but have truly thrived. —Philip Brunault
