May Center for Adult Services
Eastern Mass.

[Read press release.]

Andrew was hired as a Program Coordinator in September of 2015 to manage the opening and oversight of a new program in Eastern Massachusetts. This was an extremely challenging program with individuals who exhibited high rates of maladaptive behaviors. The month prior to the opening, Andrew prepared the home by stocking it with all the necessities and creating a very home-like environment. He also hired, trained, and prepared the new staff members for the arrival of three new residents.

That first weekend was unforgettable! The three residents took their new home by storm! Their clinical and behavioral challenges were all highlighted that first weekend. Andrew kept his staff calm and focused in order to work through all challenges presented.

As the months went on, Andrew diligently worked with each of the individual’s families, day programs, our staff, and our clinical team to help decrease the challenging behaviors each resident presented and enhance their quality of life.

Fast-forward to two years later, and our last individual moved into the home. This individual was by far the most challenging. He came to us with anxiety so severe that, except for school and visiting his family, he had not left his residence in over a year.

Again exhibiting drive and determination, Andrew worked tirelessly to integrate this individual into the community. To see the happiness this individual and his family experience as he goes out into the community to a restaurant and enjoys a meal with them is priceless.

Andrew is a perfect representation of what we at May Institute strive to do every day — enhance the lives of the individuals we serve!
