Susan Martin
2017 Trustees' Fund Award Recipient

Special Education Teacher May Center School for Brain Injury and Neurobehavioral Disorders
Brockton, Mass.

Susan has provided an outstanding education to her students, as well as leadership and expertise to the school for over a decade. As a Senior Teacher and Special Educator, Susan is deeply invested in the educational progress of each of her students.

Her classroom and individual programming are thoughtful and collaborative. She excels at advocating for her students, and is constantly developing new and innovative ways to modify state standards and promote progress. Her capacity to individualize academic programming while providing group instruction is exceptional.

Susan works well with an interdisciplinary team, and is a resource and mentor for new teachers. She incorporates a multimodal approach to learning and language to enrich the teaching environment. Her persistence and her dedication to her students give them the skills and confidence they need to succeed both inside and out of the classroom.

Susan always presents in a professional and articulate manner at team meetings and when interacting with parents and family members. She frequently seeks out professional development opportunities in order to increase her own skill set and ensure her students are well served.

Susan typically goes above and beyond for her students. She is often seen working into the evening hours preparing lessons, her classroom, and providing detailed updates to families.

Susan accomplishes all of her responsibilities with steadfast dedication and an excellent attitude. For these reasons, it is with confidence that I recommend Susan Martin as a nominee for the Trustees’ Fund Award.
