2017 Winner of the Kirk Award

Dr. Ryan Martin, a post-doctoral fellow at May Institute, was awarded the Kirk Award at this year’s Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) convention. The Kirk Award is named after Samuel A. Kirk, one of the United States’ foremost leaders in special education and especially in the field of learning disabilities.

This award is overseen by the CEC’s Division of Learning Disabilities’ Publications Committee. The award is not annual but rather is given occasionally, and "recognizes excellence in professional journal articles that have been published in Learning Disabilities Research & Practice."

Dr. Martin was co-author on the chosen article, Manipulating Treatment Dose: Evaluating the Frequency of a Small Group
Intervention Targeting Whole Number Operations
, along with colleagues at University of Minnesota, Education and Research Consulting, Inc., and University of Massachusetts at Boston.
