Terese L. Brennan, M.S., 2015 Excellence in Leadership Awardee



Terese L. Brennan, M.S., of Malden, Mass., Senior Vice President of Quality Improvement and Compliance for May Institute, [read bio here] has been awarded the organization’s 2015 Excellence in Leadership Award. She received the award during the Institute’s 60th Anniversary Celebration event at the Granite Links Golf Course in Quincy, Mass., on April 9.
 
She is the first recipient of the award, which will be presented annually to recognize a senior-level manager at May Institute for outstanding leadership and dedication to the organization.
 
Ms. Brennan has served the Institute in a number of capacities over the past 20 + years, developing and conducting performance improvement processes in a variety of areas, and overseeing the development and implementation of effective outcome measurement systems and standardization of safety systems and operations.
 
“Terese is an inspiring example of an employee who has built a successful career by working her way ‘up the ranks’ of our organization,” said Lauren C. Solotar, Ph.D., ABPP, President and CEO of May Institute. “She began as a Behavior Specialist at our first school for children with autism, and held several other positions before joining the Quality Improvement team in 1995.”
 
“She is known and respected by staff, and goes out of her way to get to know all of the individuals we serve,” continued Dr. Solotar. “Terese is regarded as a wonderful supervisor and mentor, plays a key role in our organizational initiatives, and chairs several committees.”
 
In her present position, Ms. Brennan provides leadership and guidance for all May Institute locations, and works with each program’s management team to ensure that all programs meet agency and other professional standards. This includes all state and federal guidelines, and requirements of the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), and other accrediting and licensing organizations.
 
Ms. Brennan received her master’s degree in Total Quality Management Systems from Anna Maria College; she received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
