Luis Rodriguez, 2012 Trustees’ Fund Awardee

Program Coordinator
May Center for Adult Services
West Springfield, Mass.

Luis came to May Institute four years ago as the Program Coordinator for the May’s first Western Massachusetts multicultural community-based residence. From day one, he has embodied the professional work ethic and ideals that are synonymous with May Institute. His commitment to the betterment of the lives of the individuals he serves is unmatched in the human service industry.

I’ve had the pleasure of watching Luis develop into a leader and become a role model for the residents and staff. It is my opinion that he has handled the many challenges of managing a multi-cultural program by having the ability to adjust to a variety of circumstances while remaining poised and focused on the task at hand. Luis has focused his energy on:

  • promoting cultural and religious diversity within the home;
  • supporting individuals in their choice making;
  • honoring individuals’ rights to make choices and express individuality; and
  • ensuring and facilitating meaningful community integration.

It is my honor and privilege to recommend Luis for a May Institute Trustees’ Award.
