Melissa exemplifies exceptional leadership, support for colleagues, and professionalism of the highest order. Not only has she transformed our Columbus office – the May Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders in Columbus, Ga. – into the standard-bearer for all military programs, but she has also grown in her role as Program Director.
Certain challenges arise when you work in a remote program where all of the executive decision-makers are 1,000 miles north, but Melissa has excelled as a Program Director despite those challenges. In fact, she has become the person all other Program Directors in the Southeast look to for advice on policy changes, personnel questions, employee relations, and more. Despite her hectic schedule, she always “goes the extra mile” and takes the time to help with any situation that may arise.
Melissa shows great initiative in looking out for the long-term stability of her program. She has been vocal about increasing the training and development of her staff. Melissa is well liked and admired by her subordinates, and is always looking for ways to motivate them to do their jobs better.
She has also proven her value to May Institute by overseeing our expansion into Alabama and Texas and by supporting the growth of our Center in Clarksville, Tenn. And she has blossomed into a great mentor for staff in Atlanta, Tennessee, and North Carolina.
Melissa is a perfect example of the ideals that May Institute continues to uphold. She is an ideal candidate to receive the 2011 Trustees’ Award. It is because of people like her that this great company will continue to grow.Back to Employee Honors
