Linda Sims

Business Manager
Jacksonville, Florida

The Employee Recognition & Appreciation committee congratulates Linda Sims for being selected for an Employee Spotlight Award in 2019! The award recognizes the exceptional contributions of May employees. Winners are nominated by their colleagues, managers, and supervisors from across the organization.

From Linda’s nomination: It is a pleasure to nominate Ms. Sims. She has been an employee with us in the Florida Center for 15 years as the Business Manager. She is knowledgeable and detail orientated.

During a recent visit, she was able to explain in detail the service delivery models and funding sources for each individual in our care.  For every question we asked, Ms. Sims not only had an answer but had the documentation to back up her answer. Ms. Sims shared with us her process for ensuring accurate billing every month, which includes a system of double-checking different source documentation and self-audits. Her significant efforts to ensure we are billing properly are very appreciated and offers a level of comfort that is far above many other programs. The level of detail and accounting is a testament to her dedication and work ethic. Accuracy of billing may not be glamorous, but it is important, and all of Ms. Sim’s efforts are much appreciated, which is why she deserves to be in the spotlight.

"'Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.’ This verse pretty much describes my connection to my job here at the May. Even though I do not work in the group homes, I have a desire and feel a responsibility to do what I can to enrich the lives of the men and women we serve as well as the others who work here. I have always been an "under the radar" kind of employee and not one to talk about myself so this is hard for me to do. While I recognize that taking care of the financial piece of the FL division is my primary function, I am also committed to being someone who makes the day better, shares a smile, a laugh, or an encouraging word, with everyone I interact with each day. This award says to me that I have accomplished that with at least someone and for that I thank you and them.” —Linda
